Development of Quality Educational Materials for Arabic Speakers
CET is heavily involved in the development of study materials, both printed and digital, and high-quality ICT based environments for Arab teachers and students in Israel.
Early childhood - CET lead an in-depth research project to identify the unique needs of Arabic speaking kindergarten children in acquiring written language, and is now completing the development of the first Arabic dictionary based on these findings. CET also develops a new website for Arab kindergarten teachers aimed for their professional development.
Primary School - Our on-line learning environment Ofek is a good example of our commitment to creating state-of-the-art teaching and learning material in Arabic. Ofek was developed simultaneously in Hebrew and Arabic in order to offer teachers and students from both groups the most advanced tools to advance achievements and prepare students to life in the 21st century. Another example is our bilingual Human Rights website for primary schools students. CET is also the developer and publisher of the most comprehensive textbook series Hebrew for Arabic speakers.
Junior & High School - CET also develops bilingual websites aimed to promote understanding and dialogue between Jews and Arabs. For example, visit our bilingual, online youth magazine Makom - Makan, where Arab and Jewish junior-high students post their articles and share their opinions about current events, Israeli society, the environment and more.
CET has professional development teams of Arab professionals, and similarly consults with Arab experts in the field.
Support for Immigrants and Children of Immigrants
CET has developed a number of programs aimed at reducing the school drop-out rate among immigrants whose mother tongue is not Hebrew, and increasing the proportion of immigrant students and children of immigrants who obtain the Matriculation certificate. CET has developed innovative models that allow immigrant students to succeed at critical junctures: in the transition from elementary to junior high school, and in preparation for the Matriculation examinations.
Advancement of Students with Special Needs
For a number of years, CET has been developing written and digital materials, programs and tools that provide unique solutions for special needs children with physical, cognitive and or learning disabilities. The range of materials and activities can be seen on our Special Education website in Hebrew.
